As Christians, we know where we are heading. Salvation through Jesus has set us on the path to glory. Salvation united us with Christ, giving us new life in him, and an eternity to look forward to.
As we look back through the Bible, at Creation, the Old Testament, in the stories of kings and prophets, we see clues and shadows that Jesus’ death on the cross wasn’t plan B to fix the fall, but rather a plan that was in place since before the creation of the world. It all centres on Jesus’ death and resurrection.
But what is salvation? How did we move from death to life; what does it mean for repentance; how do we live now, knowing we are justified, but still being sanctified, that we are saved, but still waiting for Jesus’ return?
This year at MYC our speaker Rory Shiner will talk us through salvation: how we are brought out of darkness into life and how that shapes our lives, here and now.
Rory Shiner is the Senior Pastor of Providence City Church in Perth, where he lives with his wife, Susan, and their four boys. He is also the Network Director for the Providence Church Network and chairs the TGC Australia Council. He studied Arts at UWA and theology at Moore College in Sydney, with a PhD in Australian Church History. He is a compelling and prolific author, having written several books and numerous blog posts on TGC, covering topics from theology to culture and ministry.
